“The number of people embracing the vegan and vegetarian diet is growing rapidly,” Chef Pradhan says. “We’ve shifted to a new era of plant-based cuisine. Boston diners have an increased awareness of dietary restrictions and organic products. The vegan movement has gone mainstream, and the food industry and consumers are responding.”
Chef Pradhan is a leader in introducing distinctive vegan cuisine to the Boston area. Pradhan’s unique culinary style mixes his vegan background with flavors and dishes from around the globe. His award-winning Red Lentil Vegan & Vegetarian Restaurant has delighted Watertown-area residents since 2009. In 2014, Pradhan began a partnership with Harvard University Dining Services. He trained dining staff and introduced vegan cuisine as a dining option for university students.
Wild Rice reintroduces vegan breakfast and lunch to the Boston area in a fresh new way. The restaurant presents locally sourced vegan world cuisine in a casual café environment. Wild Rice offers vegan breakfast and lunch, cold-pressed fresh juices, smoothies, and coffee at the counter. Many dishes are gluten-free and soy-free. Patrons enjoy quick carry-out service or dine-in in a relaxed, well-lit seating area perfect for Meetup and work-from-home crowds. Free Wi-fi is available.
“We want to offer our neighbors—area businesses, fitness groups, and others—a healthy, quick breakfast and lunch alternative,” Pradhan says. “We also hope that people—especially those who work from home or need a meeting space—will see us as a more desirable local option over a hectic coffee shop.”
January 29-30, from 6 AM–3 PM, is Wild Rice’s grand opening celebration. On both days, from 11 AM–2 PM, an all-you-can-eat vegan buffet of breakfast and lunch options will be served, allowing diners to sample the menu and enjoy a free cup of coffee, for $9. Patrons can also order off the standard menu or select a different beverage choice at regular menu prices.

On Saturday, January 30, from 8-10 AM, an exclusive kids’ menu will be available while cartoons play on the restaurant’s big-screen TV. Guests of the grand opening can also pick up exclusive coupons for use at Wild Rice.
Wild Rice’s unique, colorful space is available to rent for private parties and events of up to 45 people. The restaurant also offers off-site catering for corporate get-togethers, weddings, parties, health-related events, and more.
Wild Rice is regularly open seven days per week: for breakfast from 6–11 AM and for lunch from 11 AM–3 PM.
